Embracing Adaptation

Updated: Apr 20

Hey there, fellow adventurers in the realm of creativity! Today, I'm diving into the nitty-gritty of problem-solving. But before we embark on this journey, let me share a bit of my backstory. Growing up, I faced my fair share of challenges. Learning didn't come easy, and I often felt like I was swimming against the current. Bullied at school, juggling fluctuating friendships, and wrestling with academics, I battled self-doubt on a daily basis. But amidst the struggle, there was a constant: my parents. They were my unwavering support, guiding me through countless study sessions and helping me navigate the maze of comprehension. Looking back, those moments weren't just about overcoming obstacles; they were about forging bonds and finding strength in vulnerability.

Now, fast forward to the present, where I stand before you not as a victim of circumstance, but as a seasoned problem solver. My journey has sculpted me into someone who thrives on unraveling complexities and charting new paths. So, buckle up as we delve into the art of problem-solving.

A PROBLEM IS DEFINED AS:

“Any question or matter involving doubt, uncertainty, or difficulty.”

PROBLEM-SOLVING IS DEFINED AS:

“The process of working through details of a problem to reach a solution. Problem solving may include mathematical or systematic operations and can be a gauge of an individual’s critical thinking skills.”

Goals:

Every problem has a goal in mind. There is an objective that must be desired.

A goal is anything you want to achieve. If you are an artist, your goal might be to inspire or to move the viewer. If you are a CEO of a company, your goal might be to increase profit. In most cases, a goal may need to be broken down into smaller sub-goals in order to make it achievable and not so daunting.

Barriers:

What is holding you back from achieving the goal? If there is no barrier, there is no problem. As an artist, a barrier might be the lack of training in a specific area of expertise. So you get some training, thus removing the barrier and solving the problem. In order to reach your goal, you must remove the barriers. There is a systematic way of doing this. After repetition and practice, it becomes second nature.

Problem-solving, my friends, is like a thrilling puzzle waiting to be solved. At its core, it's about untangling the web of uncertainties and forging a path towards clarity. But here's the kicker: to crack the code, you've got to pinpoint the real issue, not just the surface symptoms. Think of it as peeling back the layers of an onion until you reach the juicy core.

Every problem, no matter how daunting, can be boiled down to two elements: goals and barriers. Your goal is the North Star guiding your journey, while barriers are the pesky roadblocks standing in your way. The key? Identify the barriers, dismantle them piece by piece, and watch as the path to your goal unfolds before you.

Enter the "Repair Method," my trusty companion in the realm of problem-solving. Picture it as your arsenal of tools, ready to tackle any challenge that comes your way. Here's a quick rundown:

The Repair Method

Recognize: First things first, spot the problem lurking in the shadows. Define it, dissect it, and jot down those barriers standing between you and victory.

Establish a Structure: Take a step back and gain some altitude. Look at the problem from a bird's-eye view, sketching out a roadmap to success. Mind mapping works wonders here, painting a vivid picture of your path forward.

Possible Solutions: Armed with insights from your reconnaissance mission, brainstorm like there's no tomorrow. Gather your tribe, toss around ideas like confetti, and let creativity run wild.

Arbitration: Now comes the moment of truth. Evaluate each solution with a discerning eye, weighing the pros and cons like a seasoned judge. Sometimes, the best answer lies beyond the confines of convention.

Implementation: Time to roll up your sleeves and put your chosen solution into action. But beware: missteps may happen, and that's okay. It's all part of the adventure.

Result: Drumroll, please! Whether you emerge victorious or faceplant into failure, one thing's for sure: document the journey. Gather feedback, learn from your triumphs and tribulations, and emerge stronger than ever.

And there you have it, folks! Problem-solving demystified and laid bare for all to see. But hey, the adventure doesn't end here.
